I love the look of this shoe, but it was not flexible enough for my taste. I've had Montrail trial runners before and loved them. Most likely, this was just a personal reaction, because they're probably great and would have become more flexible with a few runs.
I got these for a 65 mile hike on the appalachian trail. They were a bit too big, but my foot is so wide I appreciate the large toe box. However, they are slightly too long and will caused jamming issues on steep declines. I broke them in before going and they seemed like they were going to work great.
By the end of the trip my feet were in terrible shape. It has been 2 weeks since the trip and it is still painful to walk. You will most likely need inserts with these shoes if you have any arch in your foot at all.
Otherwise, the shoe did well. Held up to rough terrain, many stream crossings, and lots of snow. My feet stayed warm and dry, and the shoes still look pr......
